KEY TIPS TO PREVENT THE CORONA VIRUS DISEASE (COVID 19)


The corona virus disease also known as COVID 19 is caused by a new virus.
It started in Wuhan, China but has become an international problem as it keeps spreading to other nations including most African countries.
It is a disease of the respiratory tract which makes it dangerous disease.

New cases are being confirmed everyday in most parts of the world and that has brought about fear and panic among most citizens but best thing to do in this situation is to know about the virus and how to protect or keep yourself safe from getting infected by the virus.

This post highlights some tips that you can practice to protect yourself from being infected by the virus.

HOW DOES THE VIRUS SPREAD

The virus spread when one comes into contact with an infected person and they sneeze or cough around you.
It can also spread when an infected person touches a surface and you also touch that surface with your hands or shaking hands with anyone infected person and touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

WHAT ARE SOME SYMPTOMS.

Someone may be sick of the disease from 14 to 21 days of infection before symptoms begin to develop which is why it is important to protect yourself because you cannot say who has the virus just by seeing them appear healthy. Within this incubation stage of the virus, and infected person can transmit the virus without knowing.

Some of the main symptoms include;
1. Difficulty in breathing
2. Dry cough
3. Fever
4. Tiredness
Other symptoms may include sore throat, runny nose, sneezing.

PREVENTION OF THE VIRUS (HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF)

Well, the virus can be prevented by following these health measures meted out by the World Health Organization.

This measures are easy to be practiced by anyone no matter your location so it is very wise to observe these practices to keep ourselves safe. We can also educate people around us who cannot read and write as most of them think the virus is a joke.

1. Washing hands regularly with running water and soap and also using alcohol based hand sanitizer to rub hands.

2. Avoid close contact( 2 meters away) with people who are  not well or strangersomething. Also avoid public gatherings.

3. Cover your nose and mouth with a disposal tissue when you cough and sneeze.

4. Avoid touching your mouth, nose or eyes if your hands are not clean.

There is no known treatment for the virus yet and the best thing is to prevent it as the old saying goes prevention is better than cure.
